Pompidou and Stravinsky

Our third day in Paris was a hot one~31 C. in the shade!  We decided on a "low key" day and walked to the Pompidou Center (in the Marais).  The area around the museum is a great place to shop for postcards and souvenirs, eat and people watch.  I love the Stravinsky fountain and there always seem to be street performers there.
Initially, all of the structural elements of the building were color-coded: green for plumbing, blue for climate control, electrical wiring in yellow and devices for safety are red.  (However, this color coding has been partially removed and many of the elements are simply white.)
The Pompidou Center is a modern art museum.  From the top floor, there is a fabulous panoramic view of Paris.
The whimsical fountain has 16 sculptures that move or spray water.  The sculptures represent works by Igor Stravinsky.
This fountain was used in a scene in the Harrison Ford,  Julia Ormond version of "Sabrina".  That is where I first saw it and made a note to see it on our next trip.

Place Stravinsky is next to the Pompidou Center.  We ate at the corner restaurant~Cafe Beaubourg.
These kids were part of a birthday party.  The little girl is opening a gift that has been wrapped with string and it took some time for her to get it undone.  The gift: her name very decoratively created to hang on her wall.
Artist at work.  There always seems to be some kind of artist around the Pompidou; street artists doing portraits, musicians even puppeteers.
The "bubble man".  These guys are everywhere~or maybe it's one guy who runs all over Paris.  The kids love chasing the ginormous bubbles.
Another street performer making animals with balloons.  Lots of stuff for kids today.

After lunch we strolled over to the Ile de la Cite.  That's when we visited Sainte-Chapelle.
